LBP2 hits 4 in NPD list

Wondering how LittleBigPlanet 2 sold? While there are no exact numbers, the NPD charts for January showed it sold pretty well, hitting #4 on the charts:
1. Call of Duty: Black Ops (360, PS3, WII, NDS, PC)
2. Just Dance 2 (WII)
3. Dead Space 2 (360, PS3, PC)
4. Little Big Planet 2 (PS3)
5. Zumba Fitness: Join the Party (WII, 360, PS3)
6. NBA 2K11 (360, PS3, PSP, WII, PS2, PC)
7. Assassins Creed: Brotherhood (360, PS3)
8. Dance Central (360)
9. Michael Jackson The Experience (WII, DS, PSP)
10. DC Universe Online: The Next Legend Is You (PS3, PC)
For those not aware, the NPD tracks sales in brick and mortar retailers throughout North America. Hitting number 4 is a pretty good achievement, considering LBP2 is exclusive to the PS3.

LBP2 Infinite Loading glitch

Are you having problems connecting when attempting to play LittleBigPlanet 2 online? According to Joystiq, you're not alone -- this glitch seems to be affecting a number of players. Thankfully, there appears to be a fix:
The exact cause of the issue is unknown, though there's a quick and dirty workaround (which worked for us, when we experienced the glitch): If you get stuck on the loading screen, turn your controller off, and the level should actually load. Once you're in the level, you can turn your controller back on and get back to whatever it was you had set out to do
Media Molecule has stated that they are looking into the issue.

LittleBigPlanet 2 breaks records

To celebrate the launch of LittleBigPlanet 2, Sony and Media Molecule will be hosting a 3 day party where they attempt to set several Guinness Book of Video Game Records, well, records. If you're in town, you can attend yourself. The details are here, and the records are below:
The Guinness World Records to be set include:
  1. Longest marathon playing LittleBigPlanet 2
  2. Longest marathon playing a platform video game
  3. Most video game genres played in one video game in 24 hours
  4. Most user-generated video game levels played in 24 hours
  5. Most user-generated video game levels played in a marathon

LittleBigPlanet 2 will also be recognized for the following records:

  1. Most gaming genres in one video game
  2. Most player-created levels in one video game
I get the feeling that the "Longest marathon playing LittleBigPlanet 2" won't be hard to set since, uh, the 18th is the game's release date.

LBP2 to get free Toyota content

Tyrannicalsaurus Rex - 1 Comment
LittleBigPlanet is no stranger to surprising DLC -- Muppets, Tron, and Marvel are just but a few of those names. Now, according to Joystiq, you can add Toyota into that mix.

Yes, the car company. Apparently Toyota will be offering out of game content (like a free theme), as well as in-game content, like a Toyota themed level. This all leads off to a contest where users can build levels out of this Toyota content to win prizes. What sort of prizes? We'll probably find out closer to launch.

LBP2 will be at CES

Tyrannicalsaurus Rex - 1 Comment
If you're going to be at the upcoming Consumer Electronics Show (CES), you may want to stop by the Sony booth -- they'll be letting people get some hands-on time with LittleBigPlanet 2.

There is also going to be a Sony press conference, which will be streamed here. Judging by the focus on consumer electronics, there is likely to be little LittleBigPlanet 2 content in the conference itself.

IGN reviews LittleBigPlanet 2

Tyrannicalsaurus Rex - 1 Comment
LittleBigPlanet 2 isn't due out for another two weeks, but the reviews are already pouring in! The latest review comes from IGN, who awards the game a score of 9.0 out of 10, praising the game's improvements on pretty much every level. And that is without all the user-generated content that helped make LBP1 a hit. Here is a snippet from their review:
LittleBigPlanet 2 introduces Versus levels, which are levels specifically designed for head-to-head battle. These are in addition to the 30 story levels and act as little mini-games for you to hop into with friends and family. Remember, the game supports online and local play for up to four players in every level, but that can be just be more Sackboys jumping around collecting stickers. Versus levels are designed for multiplayer so you have a sense of purpose sink the most balls in a game of pool, score the most in a game of air hockey, etc.
If you would prefer to watch instead of read, IGN also has a video review right here.

Windows XP recreated in LBP2

The amount of things you can create in LittleBigPlanet 2 is beginning to get absurd -- beta testers have recreated Windows XP. Yes, you read that right -- this YouTube video showcases the operating system recreating, and it is pretty nifty. Not only does it replicate XP's look, but it has a music player, explorer, various games, and yes, the Blue Screen of Death.

LBP2 gets reviewed

Sure, LittleBigPlanet 2 won't even be out for another month, but that doesn't mean we have to wait that long for reviews! According to CVG, the UK's Official PlayStation Magazine has given the game a stellar score of 10/10. Here is a snippet from the article:
"At the time, the original felt like an incredible creative kit, but one that required sweat, tears and the odd sulk," says OPM. "This, however, is full of simple-to-grasp tools, all with huge potential - and you could easily lose more time to LBP2 than any other game released in 2011."
Don't forget -- the demo is coming soon, so everyone should be able to try out the game.
