GenTool Interview[ Comment ] 15:27 PST | | Print News | Category: PCNC Site News - Generals/Zero HourWith Generals 2's release date ever drawing closer it's expected that more people might start to play EA's Warcraft III-killer, C&C; Generals - however time hasn't taken too well to the old game, so it makes sense to boost your battlefield prowess with tools like GenTool.
The official Command & Conquer Facebook page was updated earlier today with photos from devoted fans of the games media franchise who all got inked-up with symbols representing their favourite fictional post-apocalyptic conflict belligerents.
The most popular option is "Singleplayer Experience" which is currently outvoting all of the other options combined, including multiplayer. Let's see if that changes at all.
There have been many updates in the thriving RA3 modding community, but the biggest news in recent months was the release of the "The Red Alert" TC mod which faithfully brings the original Red Alert game into the third-dimension. Version 1.0 was released last September and version 1.1 was released in December.
Back in 2011 this image was spread throughout the CNC community, offering a glimpse at the then-unnamed and unannounced upcoming Generals 2:
Earlier this month EA released a longer video clip from which the still originates. You can view the entire 10-second clip on YouTube. The frame is at the 9-second mark.

Generals 2 Fact Roundup![ Comment ] 20:59 PST | | Print News | Category: Next C&C;Now that the dust is beginning to settle over Generals 2, a few facts have emerged - although take these with a pinch of salt as the game won't come out for at least another 14 to 24 months.
The GLA is back.
The European Union looks to be a faction.
This game will feature "classic" C&C-style; action[1] (as opposed to C&C4;'s gameplay) - though whether this refers to Generals-style or the C&C; we all know and love remains to be seen).
The game is powered by EA's Frostbite 2 engine.
The Frostbite engine means that the game will not run on Windows XP due to its DirectX 10 requirements[2].
The game is being developed by BioWare - please take your complaints of heresy to the forums, thank you.
The release date is (for now) somewhere in 2013 - going by the enormous amount of detail present in the trailer's actual game footage the amount of manpower involved must be staggering so this is unsurprising albeit disappointing.
That's all we know for now - stay tuned!
You Wanted It![ Comment ] 20:38 PST | | Print News | Category: Next C&C;...according to Jon Van Caneghem, the Executive Producer of a certain new Command & Conquer game. Some of us, who remember the flamewars on the forums back in 2002, will surely beg to differ, but I digress, this is big news in the Command & Conquer community once again:
News of an upcoming C&C; game was made earlier this year, but no details about the game's subject matter were released - but given we had just received an onslaught of Tiberium and Red Alert games in the past five years it's only natural that the next game is set in the Generals franchise.
The announcement concerning Generals 2 was made earlier, at Spike's Videogame Awards show. This follows a teaser image released on to the web last week (which we failed to cover, sorry!), which in hindsight is clearly a Generals reference, as anyone who remembers what happens to the GLA's Technical pickups when they get blasted with a tank shell can testify. The image is repeated below:
What will Generals 2 hold for the world of Command & Conquer? Islamic Luddite terrorism may be a bit passé for today's audiences - maybe the game will feature emerging and lesser powers such as Brazil and Australia? I certainly look forward to dropping Koala-bombs onto an incoming Rio-Carnival-rush. Watch out for the Jesus Tesla Coil!
If you're enough of a C&C geek to get those references to the original Red Alert's music tracklist, you will definitely get a kick out of playing The Red Alert, a total conversion mod for Red Alert 3 that takes us back to the pixelated days of Tesla & Tanya, of Volkov and MAD -- all in glorious 3D this time.
Don't understand what's going on? No problem! PCNC has you covered with a brand new interview I conducted with Blbpaws. Turns out the Thief isn't so useless after all, since I managed to get a beta of the mod with one.
While you wait for the download to go live, or wait for the mod to actually download, take a look at the classified information I was able to extract from Blbpaws -- all without even a single truth-serum needle administered by a creepy bald guy!
