Tony Hawk's Pro Skater HD Available Now on Steam

By Mike Nelson | PC News | Sep 18, 2012 1:54 PM | 0 Comments

I totally would have given you some advance notice about Tony Hawk's Pro Skater HD coming to Steam today, but it kind of snuck up on us. That and I've been spending far too much time playing FTL to pay attention to other games (yes, even Borderlands 2). So, surprise! You can now play Tony Hawk on PC right now for $9 during its promo-priced period. After that it's a whole $10. Read More »

Dead Island Riptide Trailer Brings the Drama

By Taylor Cocke | PC News | Sep 18, 2012 10:12 AM | 0 Comments

Here's a question I never thought I'd ask myself: How do you top a game trailer where a backwards-traveling girl gets chomped by flesh-hungry monstrosities? Apparently you do it by depicting a pair of star-crossed lovers exploding, thereby taking said flesh-hungry monstrosities with them. Such is the case with Dead Island Riptide's newest teaser, and boy does it tug at those emotional heart strings. Read More »

Borderlands 2 Review

By Mike Sharkey | PC Reviews | Sep 17, 2012 9:00 PM | 0 Comments

The promise and potential of RPG looter-shooter Borderlands was always there, with the Mad Max-meets-Diablo mix of driving, shooting, and RPG looting in the comic-book-come-to-life world. The first game didn't quite realize all of it, with a notable lack of depth and a storyline that ended with a thud. Right around Mad Moxxi's Underdome Riot DLC adventure, however, Gearbox appeared to find its Borderlands groove, embracing the over-the-top comic adventure and tapping into what it truly meant to be a Vault Hunter on Pandora. The band doesn't just continue playing that groove in Borderlands 2, it embraces its inner Nigel Tufnel and cranks the volume up to 11. Read More »

This is the end, my friends. In a Facebook post, Infinity Ward has announced the PC release date for the last DLC pack for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. On October 10th, Collection 4: Final Assault will be available for purchase and will contain five brand-new multiplayer maps. But after that, no more. You've had enough. Read More »

March of the Eagles Dev Diary Has Landed

By Taylor Cocke | PC News | Sep 17, 2012 2:04 PM | 0 Comments

At this point, I think Paradox Interactive is doing its best to document every single war that has ever happened. The most recent addition to their historical battle catalog is March of the Eagles, and they've decided to announce the details of the Napoleonic Wars-era game by way of a series of developer diaries. This week, they focus on big-picture stuff, like how "March of the Eagles is about how war changes nations and the revolutionary power of conflict." Read More »

10 Awesome Things You Can Do in Tribes: Ascend Right Now That You Couldn't Do a Month Ago

By Gavin Townsely | PC Articles | Sep 17, 2012 2:00 PM | 0 Comments

Tribes: Ascend remains one of our favorite free-to-play shooters, in part because of the fast-and-furious pace that Hi-Rez is making tweaks and adding new stuff. The last two updates (August 22nd and September 12th) made major changes that have jolted players out of their comfort zones with disruptive new gear and modes, giving us a ton of new tactics to make use of and counter. Here are some of the best game-changing things I've seen and done in Tribes that just weren't possible before. Read More »

Lone Survivor Creator Calls His New Game "Zelda x Demon's Souls"

By Taylor Cocke | PC News | Sep 17, 2012 12:57 PM | 0 Comments

Every so often, I hear about a game being made and I have to stand up and applaud the idea. This is one of those moments. On the SuperFlat Games blog, Lone Survivor creator Jasper Byrne has announced a new game that he's calling "Zelda x Demon's Souls." Can I get a "Hell yeah" from the crowd? The so-called New Game is still in the very early stages, as evidenced by the prototype screenshots that Byrne has released, but he has promised "It has two-handed combat, equippable weapons and rolling." Well, that's a start! Read More »

rFactor 2's Race Toward Mod-Friendly Realism

By Dan Stapleton | PC Articles | Sep 17, 2012 12:34 PM | 0 Comments

When I tally the hours I've spent driving PC racing simulations over the past decade, rFactor trumps every single one out there. Image Space Inc's indie racer may not boast the high-fidelity physics and laser-scanned track accuracy of iRacing or the big-budget gameplay veneer and polish of Codemasters' F1 series but, thanks to motivated modding community (some might call it obsessed), rFactor has delivered more sheer content than all of its competitors combined. At last check, rFactor Central, the online repository for rFactor mods, boasted over 400 cars and almost 1,300 race tracks available for free download and seamless integration. Read More »

Kill With All of the Things in Hitman: Absolution

By Taylor Cocke | PC News | Sep 17, 2012 10:40 AM | 0 Comments

A coffee mug. A plunger. A bottle of hot sauce. To you, mere household objects. To Agent 47, they are tools of the trade. And that trade just happens to be killing. Obviously, he can use more traditional weaponry to assassinate fools, but where's the fun in that? Is there even a point to being a highly trained assassin if you can't bash someone's head in with a hula lady statue? Read More »

Bleszinski Says He'd Love to Make an Open-World Reboot of Unreal

By Mike Sharkey | PC News | Sep 17, 2012 7:55 AM | 0 Comments

Epic Games' Cliff Bleszinski took to Reddit for an IAmA session on Saturday, and when the inevitable question about a new Unreal game came up, the response was enough to make fans dream vivid dreams of Na Pali. If Bleszinski had his druthers, he said he'd love to create a Skyrim-like, open world Unreal with a mix of exploration and shooting. Read More »

Project Eternity Funded in Just Over 24 Hours, Obsidian Outlines Stretch Goals

By Mike Sharkey | PC News | Sep 17, 2012 6:49 AM | 0 Comments

On Friday, Obsidian asked gamers if they'd be interested in an old-school RPG that features some of the best elements from Baldur's Gate, Icewind Dale, and Planescape: Torment. Gamers responded by hurling cash at their monitors and inserting credit cards into their optical drives. Project Eternity surpassed its $1.1 million Kickstarter goal in just over 24 hours, and with 29 days left to go, the game already has a budget of more than $1.4 million. What will the surplus bring? Obsidian provides the details with its Project Eternity stretch goals. Read More »
