Meaning that if this is the one and only possible universe, in its one and only possible incarnation, that it's unlikely we would be here at all.
IOWs, in my opinion, it is far more likely that the Universe we inhabit is just the latest incarnation of an infinitely recycling universe of energy and matter. And that, "God", is a kind of, um, "overseer". Our individual identities perhaps expire and cease to be forever, but our energy goes on to eternity. All the matter and energy in our Universe is here.
Where else can it go? I don't know. But it's a cool thought. We'll all find out in "The End". I personally believe in an afterlife and spiritual "universe". I believe that the energy of the Universe that has become "life" (not just human life, but dolphins, elephants, dogs, cats, and grasshoppers too!), goes on to a higher level. It's not just a comforting thought, but a strong belief.
Whether that energy and matter "slurps" through different spacial dimensions or stays in our famililiar 3d universe is anyone's guess! And if it "slurps", then Homer Simpson may well be God.
could we have ever reached our present universe, if previous universes had been recycling infinetly before our one? close(-)
