German Re-unification day Day
123Independenceday » Germany

Germany wears its riches well: elegant big-city charm, pagan-inspired harvest festivals, a wealth of art and culture and the perennial pleasures of huge tracts of forest are all there for the enjoying. But Germany's history, both recent and still in the making. . Partition of Germany occurred in 1949, US, French, and British zones in West Germany became Federal Republic of Germany with Konrad Adenauer as chancellor; Soviet zone in East Germany became communist German Democratic Republic led by Walter Ulbricht. 3rd October 1990 marks the unification of the formerly divided nation. This "Day of German Unity" marks an important historic date in German history, a rich history that dates to Charlemagne in the 9th Century. Berlin, divided until the end of the Cold War by the infamous wall separating East and West, has again become Germanys capital. The Federal Republic of Germany is located in the center of Europe and has 15 neighbors with either common land borders or separated only by the Baltic Sea. Since then,3rd October is celebrated as Germanys National Day.
